      Modern Playwrights was founded and
    incorporated in Hawaii in 1969 as a non profit
    organization under the name The Mallory Players.
    In 1970 it was granted tax exempt 501 (c)(3)
    status from the U.S. I.R.S. Founding  members
    were Richard Fair, Electra Gailus and Fred
    Henderson.
    It produced a series of full productions from 1969
    to 1975.
      In 2001, the board of directors amended the
    organization's purpose to become a supporting
    organization for new plays and play development.  
    Retaining the original abbreviation, M.P., the  
    organization now operates under the DBA of  
    Modern Playwrights.
ORIGINS

    Modern Playwrights is a non-profit arts
    organization dedicated to the development
    of  new plays and new playwrights.
        "The Play's The Thing"
    Modern Playwrights is theatre professionals,
    writers, directors, actors, producers,
    managers and patrons.

         Funded by tax deductible contributions
                 from patrons and donors.
    Modern Playwrights does not charge fees,
    does not participates in sales or royalties or
    limit  the rights of authors.
