The Embers Quintet are five stand alone plays that together dramatize one hundred years and five generations of the fictional Embers timber dynasty telling their stories of generational conflicts and turmoil driven by a swiftly changing a twentieth century.
1899 - 2 Women, 2 Men - The young heir to the Embers Timber Company returns home to assume his role in the family dynasty. He brings with him an older wife who is with child. The parentage of the unborn child may not be the young father.
1921 - 2 Women, 2 Men - The heir to the Embers Timber has not returned from the great war and is reported killed in action. The family reads and rereads his letters from the front refusing to believe that he is dead. A new letter arrives throwing is mother and wife into unbounded expectation that sends them to France to look for him
1941 - 2 Women, 2 Men - The youngest Embers heir is now running the family logging business when a teenage girl, the wife of his older brother, arrives. She is pregnant and has visions of everyone's impending violent death. The girl is committed to an asylum but escapes and returns to steal her new baby.
1963 - 2 Women, 2 Men - The alcoholic head of the Embers dynasty is outraged when his "artistic" son brings home a classmate who is pregnant. The teenagers are forced into marriage that gives the girl standing to dominate the family with self center callous abandon
2012 - 3 Women, 1 Male (they/them) - The woman who now heads the Embers family has suffered multiple strokes. A strange woman appears at the door claiming they own the house. The older daughter is startled when the older woman calls the stranger by the name of her late husband the long dead Embers dynasty heir.
